Luca's New School

Luca was a little boy who was starting first grade. He was very nervous about leaving his mom, who worked at the same school. On the first day, he cried and screamed when it was time to go to his classroom. His mom and dad were sad to see Luca so upset. They asked for help from Mrs. Harris, Ms. Baron and Ms. Blue!

Luca's First Day

At night Luca would cry and cry. The next morning, Luca didn't want to get out of bed. He was afraid of being away from his mom again. When they arrived at school, Luca clung to his mom's leg and refused to let go. His teacher, Mrs. Glass, tried to comfort him, but Luca wouldn't listen. Mrs. Harris, the school counselor came to help Luca so he could be safe. They went to Mrs. Harris office so he could be in a place where he felt safe, and he could talk about his feelings. 

A Tough Morning

One day, a boy named Leo noticed Luca was sad. Leo walked over and said, 'Hi, I'm Max. Do you want to play with me?' Luca was shy at first, but he decided to give it a try. They played together and Luca started to feel a little better.

Meeting a Friend

Luca's mom and dad came up with a special plan to help him. They gave him mom's bracelets to wear. 'Whenever you miss us, just touch the bracelets and remember we're always with you,' his mom said. Luca felt comforted by the bracelets.

The next day, Luca held the bracelets tightly as he walked into school. He still felt a little nervous, but he didn't cry. Mrs. Glass noticed and gave him a big smile. Luca felt proud of himself for being brave.

A Brighter Day

Luca started to enjoy his classes more. He loved learning about animals and drawing pictures. He even started to look forward to seeing his new friend Leo. Each day, it got a little easier for Luca to say goodbye to his mom in the morning.

Learning is Fun

Luca and his mom created a new morning routine. They would share a special hug and say, 'See you later, alligator!' before parting ways. This made Luca feel happy and ready for the day. He knew his mom would always be there at the end of the day.

By the end of the school year, Luca was confident and happy. He had made many friends and loved his classes. His parents were proud of how brave he had become. Luca learned that even when things are hard, he can always find a way to feel better.
